To celebrate Duolingo’s 10th birthday and show there’s no escaping the Duolingo owl, we launched a multiplatform takeover of the metaverse (whatever that is). Roblox creators built their own Duo-inspired games through a community game jam and with the help of a  custom asset pack full of free tools and models. The best submissions were featured in a Duolingo Hub world packed with Duo merch,  a museum, a taqueria, an interactive Duo birthday card and a ‘Spanish or Vanish’ game that tested players’ language skills, as they dodged Duo in a multilevel maze.  Duo also showed up in Decentraland as a snarky statue and roaming avatar that taunted, pestered and posed for selfies. The project generated 23M+ visits and 20+ fan-made games.
